Classes Resume August 17, 2020
July 27, 2020
Dear Bishop Verot Families,
Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and support as we navigate through the process of reopening school during this unprecedented time. Below you will find both the Diocese of Venice Return to School Plan and the Bishop Verot Return to School Plan, as well as a Quick Reference Guide.
While some topics in the two documents may be identical, there are some areas that are more specific to our school setting addressed the Bishop Verot document. One area discussed in the Diocesan document that differs from Bishop Verot's plan is referred to as a "Cohort Model" with students staying in one classroom and teachers moving. This model is not possible in a high school setting where students take a variety of classes at a variety of levels. What we are doing, however, is moving classes so that larger classes are meeting in larger spaces. This means many of our teachers will not be in their regular classrooms at least while we are still social distancing. Class sizes were reduced as much as possible as well. Finally, we have removed all excess furniture in order to distance desks as much as possible. These measures, as well as other measures outlined in the Return to School Plan, were taken to ensure the safety of students and employees.
I ask you to please take a few minutes to read the documents and discuss the options with your family to decide what is best for your student. As we make final preparations to reopen on August 17, 2020, we do need to know which students will be attending school online and which students will continue with Distance Learning. We ask each family to complete the form below (must be completed for each student) by Thursday, July 30, 2020. Please note, Distance Learning will not look the same as it did last Spring. The time commitment from students, as well as attendance requirements, will be the same as it is for students attending school in person. Our goal is to ensure students are getting the very best education and are in a position to return to on campus learning.
