Jason Baumgardner as Athletic Director

Jason Baumgardner, Bishop Verot Swimming and Diving Coach, has been named the Director of Athletics at Bishop Verot High School effective July 1, 2016.  

“Mr. Baumgardner’s strong coaching and leadership background will enable him to continue to hold the athletic program to our high standard, built on molding student-athletes to be active parishioners and successful citizens in their communities.” – Dr. Denny Denison, Principal

Baumgardner expressed excitement for this new opportunity, “I am grateful and feel very blessed for the opportunity to lead Bishop Verot’s Athletic Program. I have tremendous respect for the hard work and dedication Mr. Gulley has put into the Bishop Verot Athletic Program and look forward to continuing the strong Viking academic and athletic tradition carried on under his leadership.”

Baumgardner holds a B.S. Degree in Sports Management and Business from Elon University where he also played baseball. He joined the Bishop Verot coaching staff in 2015 as head swimming and diving coach where his girl’s team finished as District Champion and Regional Runner-Up. His boy’s team also finished strong with Santi Corredor earning his second State Championship in the 500 freestyle and his first in the 200 freestyle. Baumgardner was named 2015-2016 News-Press Coach of the Year for swimming and diving.

He began his career in education with the Community School of Naples where he taught Physical Education and coached swimming and diving, baseball, and basketball. For the past seven years, Baumgardner served as Athletic Director for The Village School of Naples developing their sports program. He was also the Dean of Students for the past two years.
